California Near Space Project (CNSP) launched a Super Pressure Balloon from Silicon Valley California on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, flight # CNSP-30; call sign K6RPT-11. This is another one of our SPEED Project missions to push the evolution of efficiency and design. This Super Pressure balloon is a SBS-16, the design changes include, geometric design and additional gore. All design changes have been successful, with a float altitude of 54,500 feet or 16.5 km. This flight is using only solar to power the APRS tracking system.
